ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE (AI) BASED LEARNING MEDIA IN ISLAMIC CHARACTER EDUCATION FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD

Abstract


This research is motivated by the lack of studies on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in supporting Islamic character education for early childhood, even though the role of AI is becoming increasingly relevant amidst the challenges of the digital era that often erode traditional values. The main objective of this research is to explore in depth how AI-based learning media can be used to instill Islamic character values and analyze the factors that influence its effectiveness, such as child involvement, material personalization, and parental guidance. The method used is a qualitative method with an instrumental case study approach to five urban families who use a prototype AI-based Islamic character learning application. The research subjects included five children aged 6–8 years, their parents, and two educators, selected through purposive sampling based on openness to technology and commitment to Islamic education. Data were obtained through participant observation, in-depth interviews, and analysis of children's interactions with the application. The research results show that AI-based learning can increase children's engagement through gamification, interactive narratives, and adaptive feedback. Personalization of content is a key factor for success, but the role of parents remains essential as companions and interpreters of values. The research conclusion emphasizes the importance of synergy between technology, authentic Islamic content, and the active role of parents in shaping children's character.
