Focus & Scope

The Journal of Biophysics focuses on publishing original research and comprehensive reviews at the intersection of biological and physical sciences. The journal's primary focus is on studies that utilize physical principles, methods, and techniques to understand biological phenomena at various levels, ranging from molecular and cellular scales to entire organ systems and organisms. We encourage contributions that delve into the quantitative and mechanistic aspects of biological systems, providing new insights unattainable through purely biological or physical approaches. This includes the development of physical models for biological processes and the application of physical technologies in biological research.

The scope of this journal is broad, encompassing diverse topics relevant to contemporary biophysics. Acceptable topics include, but are not limited to, biomolecular mechanics, bioenergetics, thermodynamics of biological systems, protein and nucleic acid dynamics, membrane transport, cell-environment interactions, biophysical signal transduction, neurophysics, radiation physics in biology and medicine, and the application of physical instrumentation (such as super-resolution microscopy, spectroscopy, and magnetic resonance) to solve biological questions. The journal also welcomes studies on computational biophysics and modeling of biological systems. An interdisciplinary approach is highly encouraged, involving collaborations among physicists, biologists, chemists, engineers, and computer scientists.

Through the publication of scholarly articles, the Journal of Biophysics aims to be a primary platform for academics, researchers, and practitioners to share cutting-edge research findings, innovative methods, and conceptual ideas that enrich our understanding of the physical basis of life. We welcome various types of manuscripts, including empirical research reports, case studies, systematic literature reviews, and conceptual articles that make significant contributions to theory and practice in biophysics. It is hoped that this journal will become an important reference that advances biophysical research in Indonesia and globally, and facilitates interdisciplinary dialogue.
