Focus & Scope

The Journal of Mediation, International Diplomacy focuses on publishing original research, comprehensive reviews, and case analyses related to the theory and practice of mediation, diplomacy, negotiation, and conflict resolution in the context of international relations. The primary focus of this journal is to serve as a platform for scientific and practical advancements in these fields, with an emphasis on the dynamics of interactions between states, international organizations, and non-state actors in seeking peaceful solutions to disputes. We encourage contributions that provide new insights into diplomatic strategies, the role of mediators, the impact of international norms, and the challenges and opportunities in building global consensus.

The scope of this journal is broad, covering diverse contemporary topics in international mediation and diplomacy. Relevant topics include, but are not limited to: negotiation and conflict resolution theories, case studies of mediation in armed conflicts or territorial disputes, public diplomacy and track-two diplomacy, the role of international organizations (such as the UN, ASEAN) in mediation, multilateral diplomacy, peacebuilding and post-conflict reconstruction, economic diplomacy, environmental diplomacy, cyber diplomacy, the role of non-state actors (NGOs, multinational corporations) in diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, as well as foreign policy analysis and decision-making processes in international relations. The journal also accepts studies that integrate interdisciplinary approaches from political science, international law, sociology, psychology, and history.

Through the publication of scholarly articles, the Journal of Mediation, International Diplomacy aims to be a primary reference for academics, researchers, diplomats, conflict resolution practitioners, policymakers, and students interested in peace studies and international relations. We welcome various types of manuscripts, including empirical research reports, theoretical analyses, comparative case studies, and systematic literature reviews that make significant contributions to the understanding and development of effective mediation and diplomatic practices. It is hoped that this journal can facilitate constructive scholarly dialogue and contribute to better solutions for global peace and security challenges.
