Nafi': Journal of Community Engagement fully adopts an Open Access model for all its published content. This means that all scholarly articles published in Nafi' Journal are freely and immediately available for anyone to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to their full texts, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those associated with internet access. We believe that unrestricted access to community engagement research findings will accelerate the discovery of innovative solutions, foster collaboration among stakeholders, and enhance the visibility and impact of published works. We are convinced that research, especially that which is community-oriented and publicly funded, should be accessible to all interested parties for mutual progress.
Nafi' Journal's commitment to open access aligns with the definition of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). The BOAI advocates for users to be able to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of any articles. This also includes the ability to crawl them for indexing, pass data to software, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the internet itself. The only constraint on reproduction and distribution, and the only role for copyright in this domain, is to give authors control over the integrity of their work and the right to be properly acknowledged and cited. Therefore, Nafi' Journal does not charge subscription fees or pay-per-view fees to readers.
Nafi' Journal's open access model is supported by the fact that authors retain copyright over their work, while articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This license permits maximum reuse and distribution, provided that proper attribution is given to the original authors. This open access statement affirms Nafi' Journal's dedication to facilitating the fair and efficient dissemination of community engagement knowledge, empowering both the global scientific community and the public, and ensuring that research in the field of community engagement can be widely accessed and utilized for the advancement of science and community well-being.
