Nafi': Journal of Community Engagement implements a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the quality, relevance, and originality of every published article. All submitted manuscripts, after passing initial checks for plagiarism and formatting suitability by the editors, will proceed to the formal peer-review stage. Nafi' Journal utilizes a double-blind peer review system, meaning that both the identities of the authors and the reviewers are kept confidential from each other throughout the entire review process. This approach aims to minimize potential bias, ensuring an objective and fair evaluation of manuscripts based solely on their scientific substance and contribution to community engagement practices.
Once a manuscript successfully passes the initial screening, the editors will assign two or more expert reviewers in fields related to the manuscript's topic. These reviewers are academics and practitioners with in-depth expertise in various aspects of community engagement. They will evaluate the manuscript based on several key criteria, including the significance of the program/research, the originality of ideas, the methodology used, clarity of writing, data analysis or activity reports, interpretation of findings, and relevance and potential impact on the community. This review process typically takes between 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the manuscript's complexity and the reviewers' availability. The editors will consider the reviewers' recommendations before making a final decision.
Review decisions can be one of the following options: accepted without revisions, accepted with minor revisions, accepted with major revisions, or rejected. If revisions are requested, authors will be given a specific timeframe to respond to the feedback from the reviewers and editors, and to submit the revised manuscript. Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the original reviewers for a second review, especially if the requested changes are significant. This peer-review process is an integral part of Nafi' Journal's commitment to maintaining high academic standards and ensuring that only the best community engagement reports and research that significantly contribute to scholarly literature and field practice will be published.
