Focus & Scope

Wustho Journal: Islamic Communication is a scholarly publication dedicated to the multidisciplinary exploration of communication within an Islamic context. The journal serves as a platform for disseminating original research, innovative ideas, and critical analyses pertaining to how Islamic principles, values, and practices influence and shape various forms of communication. The primary focus of this journal is to understand the interaction between Islamic teachings and communication phenomena, whether at individual, group, organizational, or mass levels. We seek academically rigorous articles that make significant contributions to the literature and offer fresh perspectives on the study of Islamic communication in the contemporary era.

The scope of Wustho Journal encompasses a diverse range of sub-disciplines and research areas. This includes, but is not limited to: Islamic da'wah (preaching) and rhetoric, Islamic media and journalism, intercultural communication within Muslim contexts, Islamic communication ethics, social media and the digitalization of Islamic communication, the representation of Islam in mainstream media, Islamic organizational communication, and the role of communication in fostering peaceful and tolerant societies based on Islamic values. We welcome diverse methodological approaches, whether qualitative, quantitative, or mixed-methods, as well as case studies, comparative analyses, and comprehensive literature reviews.

Wustho Journal is particularly interested in research that addresses relevant and contemporary issues, such as how Islamic communication adapts to the challenges of modernization and globalization, the role of communication in countering extremism, or how digital media are utilized to disseminate Islamic messages. We encourage authors to submit manuscripts that not only analyze communication phenomena from an Islamic perspective but also critically evaluate their social, cultural, and political implications. With this broad focus and scope, Wustho Journal aims to be a primary resource for researchers, academics, and practitioners interested in the intersection of communication and Islam.
