The Wustho Journal: Islamic Communication implements a rigorous double-blind peer review process as a core part of our commitment to scientific quality and integrity. Once a manuscript is submitted through the online system, the editor conducts an initial check to ensure its alignment with the journal's focus and scope, as well as adherence to author guidelines. Manuscripts that meet these initial criteria then undergo a plagiarism check. If it passes the initial screening, the manuscript will be assigned to at least two independent expert reviewers who have relevant expertise in the field of Islamic communication. In the double-blind model, the authors' identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, to ensure objectivity and minimize bias.
Reviewers are given a specific timeframe to evaluate the manuscript based on several key criteria, including originality, scientific significance, methodological validity, clarity of arguments, and contribution to the field of Islamic communication. They are expected to provide constructive and detailed feedback to help authors improve the quality of their manuscripts. Upon receiving reports from the reviewers, the editor will make an initial decision: accepted, accepted with minor revisions, accepted with major revisions, or rejected. This decision, along with anonymous reviewer comments, will be communicated to the authors.
If revisions are requested, authors will be given a deadline to submit their revised manuscript. Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the original reviewers for further evaluation or reviewed directly by the editor, depending on the extent of the revisions required. The final decision for publication is made by the editor based on the reviewers' recommendations and the quality of the revised manuscript. The entire review process, from submission to final decision, typically takes 4 to 8 weeks, although this duration can vary depending on reviewer availability and manuscript complexity. We are committed to ensuring an efficient yet thorough review process to support the publication of high-quality research.
