Focus and Scope of the Journal of Islamic Economics

The Journal of Islamic Economics is a distinguished peer-reviewed academic publication committed to advancing theoretical and empirical knowledge in the field of Islamic economics. Published biannually, in March and September, by Publisher Media Jaza Utama, based in Kertosono, Nganjuk, East Java, Indonesia, this journal serves as a vital platform for scholars, researchers, and practitioners to disseminate high-quality research that explores the multifaceted dimensions of economic principles and practices grounded in Islamic teachings.

Our primary focus is to provide a comprehensive arena for rigorous scholarly work that examines the intersection of economics and Islamic jurisprudence. We welcome submissions that delve into a wide array of topics within Islamic economics, ranging from foundational theoretical frameworks to contemporary applications and challenges. This includes, but is not limited to, studies on Islamic finance and banking, Zakat and waqf management, Islamic monetary and fiscal policy, Islamic social finance, halal industry economics, and the role of Islamic ethics in economic development.

The journal aims to bridge the gap between classical Islamic economic thought and modern economic analysis. We encourage research that not only critically analyzes historical Islamic economic systems but also offers innovative solutions to current economic issues through an Islamic lens. This involves exploring topics such as poverty alleviation and wealth distribution in an Islamic framework, sustainable development from an Islamic perspective, the ethical dimensions of consumption and production, and the impact of Islamic legal principles on economic behavior and institutions.

We are particularly interested in empirical studies that utilize robust methodologies to test hypotheses and provide evidence-based insights into the performance and impact of Islamic economic systems and institutions. Furthermore, theoretical contributions that propose new models, refine existing concepts, or offer fresh interpretations of Islamic economic principles are highly valued. The journal also seeks to publish research that compares and contrasts Islamic economic approaches with conventional economic models, highlighting the unique contributions and potential of Islamic economics in fostering a more equitable and just global economy.

The Journal of Islamic Economics maintains a broad scope, welcoming interdisciplinary research that integrates insights from fields such as Islamic studies, finance, sociology, law, and political science, provided they contribute significantly to the understanding of Islamic economic phenomena. Our rigorous peer-review process ensures that all published articles meet the highest standards of academic excellence, originality, and intellectual rigor. By fostering robust scholarly discourse, the journal aspires to contribute significantly to the advancement of Islamic economic thought and its practical application in building sustainable and ethically sound economic systems worldwide. We aim to be a leading reference for academics, policymakers, and practitioners seeking to understand and implement Islamic economic principles.
